Who Needs a Tanori-On?

22 Nov

I came across a link while sifting through Doghouse comics last night. Normally I never pay any mind to hyperbole like “best timewaster evarr!!” or anything of the sort, but being told I would “thoroughly enjoy the next 15 minutes” of my life seemed pretty honest. So I figured, why not?

We'll be replacing all our guitars with these for the next album.

Behold, the best timewaster evar!!! A 16×16 grid where each square represents 1 of 16 notes in a 4/4 measure. You’re limited to 16 notes and any combination thereof, and that’s all. A couple minutes in, I already created a neat little groove (see above) and I was hooked.

And the coolest part? You can copy/paste songs, allowing you to share with others. I pasted the above groove below. It looks like a bizarre set of numbers, but if you copy it, take out the spaces, right-click the grid, and click “Paste”, you’ll get to hear what I made.

(Note: To copy your 1 measure groove, right-click the grid, and click “Copy”, and that’s all.)

Share stuff in the comments!

Wasn’t the entire “Juggling Snakes” album recorded on this program?
